I have always love Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, he was a gifted person with powerful voice. His music and lyrics all have powerful meanings.
I was going through youtube and i found these few videos of him.
Ganj-e-Shakar
( That day in Johor Samelan Giani Sarinder was telling me the story of this song, the description of Ganj-e-Shakar was given to Baba Fareed ji it is because
When Baba Fareed ji was a child, his mother used to put shakar(a kind of sweet sugar) under his prayermat as it was incentive for them to pray. As their mother would say that if you pray God gives you sweet sugar to eat,and after he prayed he would lift the prayer mat to find shakar there.
One day his mother forgot and Baba Fareed had started to pray,as there mother couldnt put the shakar there while they prayed she started to cry to God, asking God to keep her laag(Laaj rakna). At that moment she looked up and saw that angels were bringing shakar down from Heaven for Baba Ji. Thats where their title Ganj e Shakar came from.

but u not yet hear baba KHEEpinder, his voice is beyond anyone..

Jagjit i think it was Shakar la, coz the song is also Ganj-e-shakar and that day bhai Tarjit Singh also told in his katha, that Baba Fareed ji use to do prayers,and the mother use to put Shakar under his praying mat..
"Fareeda, Shakar Khand Nivat Gurr, Makheyo Maanjha Dudd, Sabhey Vastu Mithia, Rabh Na Pujnn Tudh". Although Bhagat ji started praying for lust of these sweet things, ultimately he realised that the true sweetness was only in the name of the Lord.
